A small regional carrier accepted 16 reservations for a particular flight with 15 seats. 13 reservations went to regular customers who will arrive for the flight. Each of the remaining passengers will arrive for the flight with a 49% chance, independently of each other.

 Find the probability that overbooking occurs.  

Find the probability that the flight has empty seats.

For overbooking all three of th non-regulars need to show up. Let X=number of non regular customers who show up. P(X=3)=B(x=3,n=3,p=.45)=(.45)^3 =.091125

Probability that there are empty seats is P(X=0)=B(X=0,n=3,p=.45)=.55^3=.166375
