Perimeter is the distance around the triangle, so we can use the distance formula. It works like this:
Distance between (0,3) and (3,-1):
sqrt[(0-3)2 + (3-(-1))2]
= sqrt[9 + 16]
= sqrt[25]
= 5
Between (3,-1) and (-7,-1):
sqrt[(3-(-7))2 + (-1-(-1))2]
= 10
Between (0,3) and (-7,-1):
sqrt[(0-(-7))2 + (3-(-1))2]
= sqrt(65)
= 8.1
Total perimeter = 5 + 10 + 8.1 = 23.1
