Hi James! When you analyze this, the equation would be written like this: 2n+5=n+8
First step: Subtract the variable'n' on both sides of the equation. when you do so, the result is like this:
n+5=8
Second step: Subtract 5 from each side and the solution would be that n=3
To check: Plug in '3' into the original equation and you compute that 11=11 which balances the equation and proves the answer as correct.
