7/2 expressed as the sum of a whole number and a fraction

need helpo with common core fifth grade math.  fractions.  improper fractions expressed as a sum of whole number and a fraction.

answer=3 1/2

 

2X3=6

6+1 =7

 

the best way to do this is think how many times does 2 go into 7.

 

It goes into 7  3 times so this would be your whole number.

 

2*3=6 but we need to get to 7.

 

so you take 7-6=1

 

now you know what goes on top.
