Having trouble with absolute value inequalities in the numerator

You can do the regular absolute value problems?  Because these are fairly similar.  For ANY absolute value problem, your first step is to isolate the absolute value portion.  For number one, multiply both sides by 3.  Then you have:

 

|4y+12|>12

 

Can you take it from here?

 

Remember, if your absolute value is greater than, you are looking at outer extremes:

 

4y+12<-12  OR 4y+12>12

4y < -24      OR 4y>0 

y<-6           OR y>0
