Bio

Ever since I was a child, I have loved math. In college, I studied Electrical Engineering, and had my first taste of teaching and tutoring math, as I ran an algebra recitation at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduation, I worked as an engineer for 7 years, until I took a break to raise my children. When they were a bit older, I realized that I missed math the most, and accepted a position tutoring AP calculus full time at a small private school. This was in 2007, and I've worked light, but regular hours there ever since, focusing mostly on teaching math, and also science.

I have also accepted private tutoring students, starting at about this same time. I have taught/tutored most secondary math subjects, and have also worked with chemistry students multiple years. I am extremely familiar with today's math curriculums, having worked regularly with students since 2007. Even before that, I was exposed to the math curriculums of my own children. Since I am so familiar with the full gamut from early elementary math up through and including AP calculus, I can tutor students with the big picture in mind, leading them to future math goals they might not even be aware of having. I am also extremely capable in plugging holes from previous math courses, as I realize student's shortcomings.

My specialty is secondary math students, and I work most with algebra through AP calculus. I can also tutor high school level chemistry, as this is heavily dependent on solid math skills.
