How do houses float on water? What are the risks to consider and how do you overcome them when designing one and how do you make them as sustainable and eco-friendly as possible?
The house would need a chassis much like a boat. The risks to consider are the rise of tides and also waves. The house would need to be docked like a boat. There are modern houseboats in almost all major cities that do this. Another project is one that I worked on in graduate school with Thom Mayne and Morphosis at UCLA where we developed a house that could float in case of flooding like that of which occurred in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina.
