Hey everyone! I was wondering if there is a faster way to say dates in Greek. Like in English, I can say "19-29" instead of "one thousand nine hundred and twenty-nine". Is there a similar thing in Greek or do you just have to say the whole number? Thanks in advance!
You actually have to say the whole number. In Greek the numbers after 999 are read as “one thousand and...” rather than double digit hundreds. The only exemption would be if you are referring to a known date for example the year 1821 of the Greek revolution. Then you can simply say ‘21. Hope this helps!
