Solve the Equation

The equation x=2√5x can be used to estimate the speed,s, of a car in miles per hour, given the length in feet, x, of the tire marks it leaves on the ground. A car traveling at 60 miles per hour came to a sudden stop. According to the equation, how long would the tire marks be for this car?

Mark M.

The equation does not contain "s." Look again.

Yes I saw that, but it also says the equation is used to estimate speed, s, so we need an s somewhere.  As written, the equation makes no sense (x=0 being the only solution); so I took the "x=" to be a typo meant to be "s=".  Students often make typos.
