Let the first expression of u - 3v also equal u + [-3v]. Then,
= u - 3v
= u + [-3v]
= <3,1> + <6,-18>...................because -3v = -3<-2,6> = <6, -18> by the Distributive Property. Then add like terms
= <3+6, 1-18>
= <9, -17>
Now we must find |u+v| such that
| <3,1> + <-2,6> |
= |<3-2, 1+6> |
= <1, 7>
