I'm sorry I'm just seeing this, so it's probably too late, and I hope the monologue went well. If you have to face the problem again, maybe this will help:
If you play Medea, would you have to believe it's ok to kill your children?
If you play Lady Macbeth, would you have to believe that murder is an acceptable political tool?
If you play Joan of Arc, would you have to believe in angels?
If you play (I don't know your politics, so pick the one you most dislike) Melania Trump or Hillary Clinton, would you have to believe what they believe?
Would those be reasons not to do it, or would they be exciting challenges?
