The sum of 3 times the larger of two integers and twice the smaller is 17. The difference between the two integers is 9. What are the two integers?

3L + 2S = 17, L-S =9, L=9+S

3(9+S) + 2S = 17

3S + 2S = 17-27

5S = -10

S =-2 = smaller number

L = 9-2 = 7 = larger number
