If you are taking the TOEFL IBT, the whole test is computer based. Therefore, you will also have to do the reading part on a computer, i.e. you cannot circle, highlight or manipulate the text in any way, but you will have to look at the screen and take notes (you will be given paper and pencils, and you can take as many notes as you like).
Normally, there are three reading passages with 13 or 14 questions each, but there could be four reading passages with one being of 'experimental' nature. However, since you do not know which reading passages are the ones that are being scored and which one the experimental one is, you will have to answer all questions to the best you can.
There are standard question types that are recurring and that can be practiced, such as the vocabulary question, the reference question, or the simplify sentence question. You need to practice these a lot and also study TOEFL vocabulary to master the reading part. There are strategies and recommendations an experienced TOEFL tutor can give, and you can self-study a lot as well. Just make sure you have original ETS test preparation materials!
