A log 22ft long is to be cut into two parts where one part is 6ft longer than the other.Find the length of each part

If x = 1st piece length

x+6 = second piece length

Piece 1 + Piece 2 = Total length

x+(x+6)=22

2x+6=22

2x+6-6=22-6

2x=16

2x/2=16/2

x=8 ft

x+6 = 14 ft
