How to start writing a graduation speech?

I am a junior in high school and have been asked by my teachers to prepare a welcome note and start the ceremony. I have to: - introduce the principal and the guest of honor- thank the faculty- acknowledge the graduates- recite some quotes and - narrate some success stories. After that I am supposed to introduce two seniors who are going to host the rest of the ceremony. Can anyone give me guidance in how to write such a welcome note and provide links to some examples?

First of all, I would ask how long your speech is supposed to be. That will help give you some guidelines on how much you need to write.

Second, I would organize the parts of the speech you mentioned into a coherent outline. For example, you could start by welcoming and thanking everyone in attendance, thank the faculty for putting together this event, acknowledge the graduates and their hard work, tell some success stories or anecdotes, then invite the principle and guest of honor to speak.
