Why is a "drawing room" called that when it isn't even used for drawing or sketching?

The only art in a drawing room is the art of conversation. Historically, after a meal, guests would withdraw to a room for entertainment. This withdrawing room became known as simply the drawing room and later called sitting room, living room, den, etc.
