Is it possible to get GED after getting kicked out of high school due to low attendance?

I worked for 3 years with GED students. Depending on age and the parents permission, some students are allowed to enroll in a local GED program through nonprofits or local community college. This requires an exit form from the Board of Education and the school. These are free programs that offer pretesting and often assist the student as well.
