The scoring of the Analytical Writing section is done by taking a holistic view of the text. In order to score high in AWA, a candidate must keep the following things in mind :
- There should not be any spelling errors.
- The vocabulary used must be good with efficient usage of words.
- The topic being written about should be covered holistically. Answers with multidimensional approach fetch greater marks. For example, if a question about the impact of social media on children is asked, the candidate must touch upon the various aspects of this. He/she may mention the social, psychological, economical etc impacts. This will make the answer well rounded.
- The sentences must be short and crisp. If long, they must be assisted with good punctuation.
- The entire text must be well-fragmented into Intro-Body 1- body2- conclusion or the intro-body 1-conclusion format.
- The word limit must be adhered with though a longer essay generally leaves a better impact if it is packed with valid and logical points.
- The essay in which you need to Analyze an argument must be brainstormed with properly. Put your views strongly and clearly. Any straying from the topic or any useless repetitions put the essay in dim light.
With the above points I wish the aspirants a very All The Best. Please feel free to contact me if you need any assistance on any section of the GRE.
