How to generate edge mask in Photoshop?

Is there a way to generate mask in Photoshop similar to what Lightroom sharpening mask generates by using edge detection?

Answer 1

This may not be the most elegant method available, but certainly the easiest way is to simply go to Filter --> Camera Raw Filter and sharpen the same way you would in Lightroom. You will have exactly the same layout as Lightroom provides, but the unique advantages that Photoshop has with layers.

Note: Camera Raw Filter will ONLY affect the layer you have selected.
