One method of finding GCF is to divide the larger by the smaller.  Then splitting the numerator and denominator into factors.

 

40m⁹/10m⁵

4(10)m⁵m⁴/10m⁵

(4m⁴)(10m⁵)/10m⁵

So the GCF is 10m⁵
