"Found" in the context you provided translates to "came to learn" or "understood." However it does not mean a definitive or necessarily, a conclusion. "Findings" are most usually a part of an investigative process and refer to things discovered while searching for some ultimate answer.
"Finding someone guilty" is a completely different context and does refer to a conclusion in a judiciary process ... ie. when someone is in the process of being judged. "Findings" however, throughout a trial or discovery process lead to a "finding." The findings a partial answers whereas the "finding" is conclusive.
It's a subtle difference if English is not your first language and completely relevant to context. I hope that makes sense.
