Hi,
A cube has 6 faces.
A cube has 12 edges of length s (for "side' length).
The volume of a cube is V = s*s*s = s3 [well, it is called a 'cube']
The surface area of a cube is S = 6s2 [which is 6 times the area of one face]
For a cube with "perimeter of one face @ 56 inches," the side length is perimeter/4 = 56/4
s = 14 inches
The total surface area to be covered is 6*s2 = 6*(14)2 = 1176 in2
