This is a great question and the short answer is 'no'. It seems to me there are a 2 major reasons that give it a bad reputation: 1) Maybe the beverage is a coffee or tea and it has a lot of milk/cream in it. In that case, loading up on dairy before a speaking engagement isn't the best idea as it causes mucus and that makes the speaker need to clear their throat a lot. 2) If you're not drinking a lot of water, caffeine dehydrates you further. Much like the previous reason, if you're dehydrated, your voice will be gummy sounding. We get mucus on our cords when they don't have enough lubrication, which, again, leads to repeated clearing of the throat. I hope that's helpful!
