Good afternoon Lauryn,
A multiple is the result when you multiply a number by an integer (a positive whole number). So I could say that 6 is a multiple of 2 because I multiplied 2 by 3 to get it. Below I've listed the first five multiples of 2.
2, 4, 6, 8, 10
You may have noticed that I find the multiples of a number the same way that I would skip count.
Let's do a fraction example together. We'll find the first five multiples of 1/4. They will be 1/4×1; 1/4×2; 1/4×3; 1/4×4; and 1/4×5. So the first five multiples of 1/4 are:
1/4, 2/4, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4
Your first multiple of 1/10 will be 1/10×1, which is 1/10. The next one will be 1/10×2, which is 2/10. Now you can probably see the pattern and find more multiples of 1/10.
Good luck with your math work! If this explanation was helpful, give it a thumbs up.
