Great question. My suggestion to writing a great speech is to start with the conclusion. What do you hope people will remember about your speech. After you have finished your speech, what must your audience never forget about it? Once you have your conclusion you work backwards crafting your speech.
How do you write a successful speech?

The first place to start is through audience analysis. What is important to your audience? If you think about the people sitting in the audience, then you need to tailor a speech to them and their needs.
Successful speeches and presentations have distinct parts. You need a stronger grabber to start. If you understand your audience, then what would interest them? That introduction grabs their attention and draws them into your speech.
Second, make sure that the body of your speech is logical and easy to follow. People process structured information more quickly. How can you structure the information to guide them through the information? Break down the information into small, digestible pieces of information.
Finally, your conclusion should sum up what you discussed and have a call to action. So what happens next?
A good speech should:
Be clear to your audience or listener.
Be conversational. Your speech should sounds like a chat between friends.
Be easy to understand.
Be brief. Fifteen to twenty minutes is usually the limit for most audiences.
Be interesting to your audience. Include quotes, anecdotes and humor. Ask questions.
Finally, focus on your audience. Consider their age, sex, religion, social and economic perspectives.
