The difference between efficient and effective is: efficient means doing the thing right and effective means doing the right thing.

An effective presentation reaches its goals. Usually, the goal is either (1) to inform or (2) to persuade. For example, a Department of Highways presentation about a bridge replacement and the detours that will be needed is to inform. It is effective if people know how to adjust their travel plans. A presentation by a food bank charity is effective if it persuades people to make donations.
