Help with trigonometry/Geometry

A utility pole has a guy-wire attached to it 3 feet from the top of the pole. The wire is attached to the ground by a stake that is 100 feet from the base of the pole. The wire makes a 46° angle with the ground. Given this information, answer the following questions.

  1. How long is the guy-wire?
  2. What is the height of the pole?

The length of the stake=100ft

Using the trig ratio, we will get:

  1. tan 46 = height of the pole/length of the stake
  2. using a the pythogrus Theorem we can find the length of guy’s wire. Answer:
  3. The length of the guys wire is 144ft
  4. Height of the pole is 103.55ft
