We don't know what information was gathered to suggest the unknown was either bismuth or lead, but based on the title of the question, one might assume that you found the specific heat of the unknown from a calorimetry experiment. In an attempt to confirm the identity of the unknown, one could determine the density of the metal. The densities of Bi and Pb are sufficiently different, that one would be able to differentiate the two metals based on that measurement.
