What is the different in these 2 questions?

what does the 3 represent in the fraction 1\3?

what does the 6 represent in 1\6?

Fractions are a way to represent part/whole. So in the first fraction, 1/3 is like you have a pie cut into 3 pieces and 1/3 means you have one slice of it. 2/3 would be 2 slices and 3/3 would be the whole pie. The second fraction, 1/6 is a pie cut into 6 pieces.
