Is there a proper format when asking a question?

My book has the following format when asking a question:"È verde il libro grande?" I write it as such.But what's the difference with writing "È il libro grande verde?" Would Italians tilt their head? Or can it be used interchangeably?

When you wish to put more emphasis in a yes/no question, you can switch the subject and the verb:

È verde il gran libro? ---> ll gran libro è verde? (great book)

Keep in mind that "Grande" becomes "Gran" before nouns that start with a consonant and means something different depending on whether it comes before or after the noun.

È verde il libro grande? ---> ll libro grande è verde? (big book)

it depends on what you want to enphasize. If you want to highlight the color, then you say: "E` VERDE...IL LIBRO..?". If the fact that you refer to the big book, then you say "IL LIBRO GRANDE....E`.."
