Not sure if you want a pie or two halves, but this is in reference to 2 halves of a circle.
Draw a circle with the Ellipse Tool.
Now select the pen tool and click to set your first anchor IN THE MIDDLE of the circle. Hold Shift and click to set the second anchor down the middle of the circle.
You want to expand your anchor points and convert your line down the middle of the circle, into a shape. Select the LINE in the middle of the circle and at the top of the toolbar, go to OBJECT>EXPAND. Now its officially a shape.
Select both the circle and the Line. Now we are going to use the PATHFINDER TOOL to divide the circle into two. Select Window> PATHFINDER to open up the Pathfinder window. Then select SUBTRACT from the options in the panel. Now, you have a separated circle shape. Note the LINE in the middle of the circle is gone and you're left with the cut circle. Select the shape and HOLD SHIFT CMD + G to UNGROUP the parts of the circle. NOW, you have yourself two halves of a circle.
Hope this clears your question!
