How hard is it to get a GED?

Hi there!

While the GED test is not that difficult, it does require preparation and targeted study. As there are 4 subtests, I recommend to my students that they choose the one that is least intimidating and start with preparation to pass that test. In the process of preparing for the first subtest, they learn test-taking strategies that transfer over to all four subtests. It's a good idea to get support, at least when you are beginning the process of getting that GED under your belt. Best wishes to you!

The material on the GED is generally the 9th grade level courses. So, it depends on how much you can remember. Before you get a tutor, look for a local school district with free classes. I've seldom tutored any GED student who had more than the math remaining, but I know there were others who just had one other subject remaining. It may not be easy, but it could be worth it.
