How can you reduce noise in an image?
2 Answers By Expert Tutors
I teach Photography and PhotoShop at the college level, I have recommended to my students to first try reducing digital noise in Photoshop at the top of screen click on the following: filter/noise/reduce noise, then move the slider accordingly. I have seen my students shoot at an iso on a crop sensor camera so high, i.e. 7,000 or higher, and they were not able to remove the noise in Photoshop, this is when I sent them to Topaz Denoise, they are able to reduce high amounts of digital noise and still maintain image detail, and quality.

There's a few things that can be done to reduce noise. One of which is a filter at the Top Under Filter> Noise> Reduce Noise. You can reduce both color noise as well as black and white noise. To prevent noise in the photo, you can also adjust the ISO setting in the phone/ camera to a lower number such as 100 or 200 before taking a the photo initially to reduce noise even further. Lastly, you can up the contrast a little with the adjustment layers int eh layer panel under Adjustment Layer> Brightness/ Contrast.
