Let 40° be the angle from the ground to the top of pillar of length 9,
Let 50° be the angle from the ground to the top of pillar of length 16.
Let a be the length from the 9 pillar to the point on the ground where the angles are formed
Then Tan 40° = 9/a
And Tan 50° = 16/(x+a)
Solving these two equations for a = 10.726, and x+a = 13.426
Then x = 2.7 distance between pillar 16 and 9.
