Hi Sky, set up a table with the know information. Let x represent the unknown amount of $1.50 needed.
Product Amount Total
------------------------------------------
$1.50 x 1.50 * x
$0.60 10 0.60 * 10
$1.00 10 + x 1.00 * (10 + x)
The sum of the $1.50 chocolate plus the $0.60 must equal the $1.00 total.
Equation to solve:
1.50 * x + .60 * 10 = 1.00 * (10 + x)
1.50x + 6 = 10 + 1.00x
Combine like terms:
.5x = 4
Divide both sides by .5:
x = 8
You need 8 pounds of the $1.50 chocolate to make chocolate that costs $1.00 per pound.
