Same type of question as before. I am going to use substitution to solve for this system of linear equations. I am going to substitute -5y for x on the second equation. This is what we have
x+y= 8
(-5y)+y=8 Substituting
-4y= 8 Combining like terms
y=-2 Dividing both sides by -4.
To find the value of x, plug -2 for y, into either of the original equations. Let's use x=-5y. x=-5(-2)= 10. So, the answer to this system is (10,-2).
