True. The Norse settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows (now an archaeological site in northern Newfoundland) is the oldest confirmed European settlement in North America.
That being said, Greenland is often included in the definition of North America, although it is currently part of the Danish Realm. European colonies on Greenland were also Norse and came earlier than the one at L'Anse aux Meadows.
