A painter needs to cover the walls of four rooms in two coats of paint. Each room measures 4ft by 8ft, the ceiling is 10 ft high in each room. Each gallon covers 32 square feet. How many gallons of paint does he need?

Two walls are 4x10 and two are 8x10

One coat of paint in one room

2(4)(10)+2(8)(10)=240

Two coats 240*2 =480

For four rooms 480x4=1920 sq ft

Divide by 32

60 gallons of paint needed

The area of the walls is (4)(10) + (8)(10) + (4)(10) + (8)(10)

Calculate that are and divide the sum by 32.
