First, you can think, what number is "x" if 6x = 12. That answer is 2. To keep the product of 6 and "x" to be less than 12, the "x" must stay less than 2, or x < 2. On a number line, draw a circle on 2 and draw an arrow to the left. The circle represents that 2 is not included in the answer.
