I strive to make learning fun and productive. I thoroughly enjoy tutoring math and science, especially elementary and middle school students. I have many hands-on math activities, worksheets and math games to help students learn concepts and then improve their speed. I can provide many hands-on activities to understand physical science concepts, then teach students how to accomplish the accompanying math problems.
I have developed a large math website that is free to users. It has thousands of problems for students to practice hundreds of topics in elementary and middle school math, algebra and into geometry.
I am certified to teach both math and science in 7th - 12th grades. The sciences I have taught include earth science, physical science, chemistry and physics. The math classes I have taught include all middle school math, pre-algebra, algebra and geometry. I have coached for the Science Olympiad, Science Fair and the middle school math competition, MathCounts, and have had several students qualify for state level. I have also had the enjoyment of providing math tutoring and math enrichment at a local elementary school for several years.

I love how Mary works with my son. He always walks away with tremendous confidence after a session with Mary.
Mary is very versatile and works well with my special needs student. Math still frustrates him but Mary's help is invaluable! She uses different explanations, techniques and manipulative a to help him understand and master the concepts.
Mary was very knowledgeable about the 10th grade topics that would be covered, and the order they would occur. She was helpful with current homework problems as well as drills to strengthen skills for future success with upcoming units. She was patient when helping correct remedial skills/concepts. Most of all, Mary was encouraging and presented a "you can do this" attitude.
Mary Ann has a wide range of tools in her box to use with both my kids and so far, they seem to be challenged and experiencing success, which I want for them - to learn skills and become more confident learners.
Mary has helped my son better understand math fundamentals and algebra. She is very patient and finds different techniques according to my son's learning style and ability.
I sat in on the tutoring for just a short bit because I did not want to be a distraction for my son. She used a lot of flash cards, which might seem elementary for a 9th grader, which my son really engaged in. I have never seen this method of tutoring/teaching and was very impressed. Mary had my son thinking in a matter of moments, working on percents and fractions. For him it was almost a game or competition with himself to place all the cards in the correct order. I am very glad to have found Mary.
On March 17th William had another great lesson with Mary! With that being said I would like to thank Mary for all of the time and effort she puts in with William each week. It has so paid off. William just got his report card on Friday and he got an "A" in math!!! William says that Mary has a way of explaining math that just makes everything click for him. So, again, thank you Mary!
Mary is a great tutor. She is patient and very pleasant with my granddaughter. I like how she uses different methods to grab her attention. My granddaughter like Ms. Mary very much.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
