You're going to multiply the two numbers. It's easier if you turn 1 3/4 into an improper fraction. Multiply the 4 by the whole number 1 (to get 4) and add that to the 3. So your improper fraction is 7/4.
Now you multiply the tops of the two fractions together and the bottoms of the two fractions together.
7/4 x 1/3.
7x1 = 7 That's the top of your answer.
4x3 = 12 That's the bottoms of your answer.
Your answer is 7/12 km.
