5x - 2y = 1
4x + 5y = 47
First pick one equation and solve for a variable i always choose x and the first one:
5x = 1 + 2y
x = (1 + 2y)/5 now we substitute what we found from first equation into second unused equation
4[(1+2y)/5] + 5y =47
now you solve for y and then plug what you find into the first equation to get x!
