In , AB = 24 cm and BC = 10 cm. BD is perpendicular to AC. Find the ratio of the shaded area to the unshaded area.

I made the assumption that angle B = 90 degrees and BD is perpendicular to AC, then you have 3 similar triangles. And you can solve for the small area assumed to be shaded to the larger similar triangle unshaded. I arrived at a ratio of .1736
