You have mosaic tiles that measure 1 and 2/5 inch. How many square feet will 1000 mosaic tiles cover? Write your answer in simplest form. I know the answer is 13 and 11/18 but I just dont know how they got the answer. Please show me how to solve this word problem. Thanks!

Do you mean 1inch by 2/5 inches? If so just line them up one after another and you will have a rectangle with sides 1000 inches and 2/5 inches. Area = 1000*.4 = 400 square inches.

 

NOTE if they have to be arranged to form an area which is a square, I am not sure if it still is a geometry question
