Hi Isabelle, the two jogger's travel the same distance. Use the equation D = R*T to solve the question.
Jogger one:
D1 = RT
D1 = 6T
Jogger two:
D2 = RT
D2 = 5(T + 25/60) , put number of minutes into hours
D1 = D2
Or
6T = 5(T + 25/60)
6T = 5T + 25/12
Subtract 5T from both sides:
T = 25/12
To find the distance substitute 25/12 for T:
D1 = 6 * 25/12
D1 = 25/2, or 12.5 miles
Check using D2
D2 = 5(25/12 + 25/60)
D2 = 5(25/12 + 5/12)
D2 = 5(30/12)
D2 = 150/12, or 12.5 miles
