Let x = the number of acres that Mrs. Griffin plants in soy beans.  Since there are 100 acres total, the acreage planted in corn will be 100-x.

 

660 hours = (6 hours per acre)*(x acres) + (8 hours per acre)*(100-x acres)

 

660 = 6x + 800 - 8x

 

-140 = -2x

 

Solve for x, the number of acres of soybeans.  Once you have the value of x, the number of acres of corn is 100-x.
