There are two simple ways to see this.

First, graph the 3 points on graph paper and see that they are, indeed, NOT co-linear

Second compute the slope from (-4,1) to (-2,-1) and then the slope from (-2,-1) to (-1,-4) to see that the slopes are unequal.
