The rectangle has a length of 6 inches and a width of 2.5 inches. what is the area of the shaded portion?

6 x 2.5 = 15
2.5 = 5/2
6 x 5/2 = 30/2 = 15
Area of the rectangle = 15
If you shaded all of the rectangle, then it's area = 15
shade half, it's 15/2 = 7.5
shade 1/m portion of the rectangle and its area = 15/m
