If the tank is 3/4 full, then the number of gallons currently in the tank is 3/4 x 14.5 gallons = 10.875 gallons. That leaves the difference to be added. And that difference is 14.5 gallons - 10.875 gallons = 3.625 gallons. If you round off it would be 3.63 gallons.
Done a different way: If the tank is 3/4 full, that leaves 1/4 that remains empty (because 3/4 + 1/4 = 1.0). So, 1/4 x 14.5 gallons = 3.625 gallons.
