I need help on this word problem.

Diane made 6 identical necklaces, each having beads and a pendant. The total cost of the beads and pendants for all 6 necklaces was $20.40. If the beads cost $1.60  for each necklace, how much did each pendant cost?

Total cost of 20.40 divided by 6 necklaces is 3.40 per necklace for beads and pendants. 3.40-1.60 for the beads equals a pendant cost of 1.80.

beads + pendant = $3.40

 

$1.60 + pendant = $3.40

 

pendant = $3.40 - $1.60 = $1.80
